Manic Miner II
The Commercial Game of the Month has to be Manic Miner II by Software Projects in 1990
Well what can I say about this Game, Quite a lot actually, It is as you can tell this is a modern remake of the original Manic Miner from the Commodore 64, with larger graphics and a larger playing area, which now scrolls as you move across the screen
This being a more modern look, with a larger screen, so it can be quite annoying if you do not know where to go, since you need to plan your route more since the play area is off screen, and you can end up hitting a enemy and dying on the spot
Graphically it is quite a good remake, although many have slated it for the enlarged level size and small viewing area, which really makes it quite challenging, possibly even more than the original version
I do like having a play now and then when I can, while some people did not really like this remake, I think it certainly has its place in History (for me anyway), it was not a bad remake, it could have been much worse than it turned out, but perhaps it did need to use smaller graphics, and maybe follow the same 1-screen format as the original Manic Miner did
