Racing Maniacs

This is Racing Maniacs by Paul Gaze in 1993

Here is another Car Racing Game, which shows you a front bumper view from your Car, you are racing alongside a Computer Player, or there is a 2-Player option as well

There are tokens (if enabled via the Game Options) dotted around the track, and you can even drop mines out of your car to slow the progress of your opponent, you can set these up in the Game Settings menu if you want them ingame

You have a panel to the right of the screen which shows you your Speed (next to the S), Laps (next to the L), Gear (next to the G, as in (F)orwards or (B)ackwards), and your Race Position (R)

Below them are some poorly rendered Graphics which show the Damage to your Car, if the parts of the Car are Blue, that means you are not damaged in that area, when Damage occurs it will change from Blue to Red in parts, meaning part of your car which is highlighted in Red is damaged

If you enabled Tokens, They will appear randomly on the map, and can be one of the following

• Cube with Red Cross – Repairs your Car
• Yellow Cube – Improves Acceleration for 10 seconds
• Red/Black Cube – This is a Mine, and will cause damage to your Car
• Black Rectangle – This is a Warp Gate, which will transport you around the track to a random location

Graphically I feel the Game is rather dull, having only a fixed screen, where half of the screen is road, and the other half being sky, mostly the Graphics are pretty basic, with the odd tower what briefly shows around the track as you progress
