Commodore 64 – 40 Years Old (1984-2024)

Well this beauty is the Commodore 64, Released in August 1982, Making it 40 years old

It has a MOS 6510 CPU at 1MHz, a wonderful adorable, SID 6581 Chip, which produces the most wonderful sounds in like ever, 64K of RAM, and a 25 X 40 Text or 320 X 200 Graphics Mode with 16 Colours

Its ports include a TV Out which supports RGB and Composite Video, 2 Joystick Ports, a Cartridge Port and Serial Port

This wonderful awesome amazing machine brings back so many memories for me, having got it at Christmas, it was a dream come true, and switching it on for the first time, seeing that blue screen, with all this text on, wondering, what have I got here?

The main games I still play on this wonderful machine are Duet (did not have an Amiga release), Exolon (the Amiga version SUCKS), and Rolling Thunder (the Amiga version SUCKS), and not forgetting Target Renegade (never had an Amiga version sigh) of course, Rainbow Islands, The C64 had some of the Best Games Ever!

At the heart of this excellent powerhouse is that lovely SID CHIP, it creates some excellent sounds, which resonate amongst classic gamers everywhere, from the dull tones, to the high notes, the SID CHIP was a marvellous addition to this wonderful machine, and if the SID CHIP did not exist, OH MY, DONT GO THERE SERIOUSLY!

I loaded Games from Cassette back in the day, and who can forget THE OCEAN LOADERS or FREELOAD as its officially known, the wonderful SID CHIP came into its own then, playing some kick-ass tunes while your Games loaded into its memory ready to play with another kick-ass title tune from the Game itself

Definately worth a look at, even grab an Emulator and a few Games, and get into the world of the Commodore 64, I know you will love it, as I still do, to this very day, You will NOT be disappointed with this gem

Er, Did I mention its SID CHIP and its Excellent Sound Quality?
