The plot

The evil Dr Madness has developed cybernetics to a horrifying
level. In his madness he has developed cybernetic cars, cars
manufactured in the normal way but with one major difference.
The cars are controlled by human brains stolen from accident and
emergency wards from around the country.

Until now Dr Madness only took the brains of dead people but as
the market for his grotesque creations grew he needed more and
more brains and the accident and emergency wards could no longer
keep up with the demand. So in a act of pure madness he sent
out his thugs to kidnap people from off the streets for use in
his creations. Once he had obtained a brain in this way he
would wipe it's memory and thus create a loyal army of henchmen.

Kay was walking home from a hard days work when a van veered off
the road and stopped across her path. A side door on the van
slid open and two pairs of arms reached out and pulled her into
the van. Kay attempted to scream but as she tried a cloth was
placed over her mouth and nose.

Kay woke to find herself trapped inside a steel body, a car!
She tries to scream but no sound comes. Then a unfamiliar voice
enters her head 'Stay calm, all is well. It takes time to
adjust.' The voice is calming almost hypnotic. Kay finds
herself calming down and relaxing.

Over the next few weeks Kay finds out that she have been
kidnapped by the evil Dr Madness and turned into one of his
cybernetic creations. She also finds out she is the only one to
still have her original memory. With sadness Kay remembers her
family and home realising she will never see them again, and the
horror of the kidnapping and waking to find herself a integrated
part of a racing car.

Finally Kay decides to stop Dr Madness by steeling all his gold
bullion and turning it over to the authorities.

So Kay's quest begins...

Instructions

Game controls

Use a Joystick in port two to control your car.
Press fire to release smoke.
Press the space bar to use a joker.
Press P to pause the game.

Object of the game is to collect all the gold coins in the maze,
when this has been completed you will be transported to the next
maze.

There are forty mazes to clear spread over four different
worlds. In each maze you will find there are three cybernetic
cars, their sole aim is to stop you from collecting all the
gold. The way they do this is to ram your car. Sadly you have
no offensive weapons to help you in your quest but you do have a
smoke screen. When driving if you press the fire button a
screen of smoke will emit from the rear of your car and any
pursuing car entering the smoke screen will be forced to stop
until the smoke clears. Be careful with the use of the smoke
screen as you only have a limited amount of smoke. This is
displayed at the top of the game screen as a red bar the bigger
the bar the more smoke you have. This bar can be increased by
driving over the oil squares. Another important factor is all
the cars including yours run at the same speed so their is no
unfair advantage.

Also at the top of the game screen you will see a car icon with
a number to the right of it, this is how many lives you have
left.

A world icon, which world your on.

A maze icon, which maze/level your on.

A white card with J in two corners, this is the number of jokers
you have. A joker may be played by pressing the space bar.
When a joker is activated the maze you are currently in is
automatically finished and you are transported to the next maze.

A guide to the worlds

Within the four worlds you will find many objects as detailed
below.

The Teleporter, this is a square with a large T on it. When you
enter this square you are transported to another square in the
maze with a T on it.

The Lock, this is a square with a large keyhole on it. This
square is impassible.

The Key, this is a square with a gold key on it. Drive over
this square and one of the locked squares will then be opened
allowing access to other parts of the maze.

No entry Sign, this square is impassible to you but the cyborg
cars may cross these squares.

The Gold Coins, collect all of these to exit the current maze.

The Oil, these squares have OIL writer on them and if you drive
over them the smoke tank will be topped up.

World four (The Vault) has four pressure pads per level which
must be depressed before the gold coins are revealed and are
able to be collected.

Bonus Objects

As time moves on in the game bonus objects will appear in the
centre of the screen these objects vary in score and some even
give you extra lives, automatically finish the screen, extra
joker and loads of points. A list of points follow.

Hamburger 100
Hotdog 200
Frys 300
Ice Cream 400
Apple 500
Banana 600
Sandwich 700
Cherries 800

Gold Cup extra life.
Joker gives you an extra joker.
Bear glass takes a joker away (shouldn't drink and drive).

World codes

Each world consists of ten levels. When you have completed ten
levels you are transported to the next world and are given a
world code. You should copy this down so you can start the game
on that world next time you play. Note there are different
codes for the Normal and Learner levels. Also note you cannot
gain access to world four on the Learner level.

Hints and Tips

You always start in the centre of the maze.

When you enter a new maze study the maze well before moving as
the cyborg cars will not start chasing you until you move.

When using teleporters make sure where you are teleporting to is
clear.

Most importantly use the smoke screen.

Collect the bonus objects to increase your score and gain extra
lives and jokers.

Extra lives are given at every 10000 points.

Don't play a joker unless you are trapped and about to lose a
life.

Good luck!
